Integrity
is most easily described as knowing the difference between right and wrong. Similar words to integrity are honesty, sincerity, and moral uprightness.
Integrity is a life long skill that is learned when a person is very young. Parents think that integrity is the most important life skill a child will ever learn.
I think that integrity is important because people are going to judge you on decisions you make based on your level of integrity. The quality of your friends is also part of integrity because if you are honest you’ll have better friends that trust you and you will trust them.
If you have a job and your boss thinks that you have integrity then he’ll trust you with bigger responsibilities. You will make more money than someone who the boss does not trust. You could get raises for showing integrity in situations that might not be easy to use integrity in. Read the rest of this entry »

Since
I can remember my Mom has been a homemaker and therefore she was frequently at home. Since both my parents had their own car, I always had a ride to where I was going. Cars were an everyday part of my life, almost everyday I would get in and out of the car. Naturally I grew up finding cars as a primary source of transportation, with other methods lagging far behind. I got older and realized that my personal limo began to have restrictions, suddenly if the destination was close I had to walk or ride my bike there. That was when I began to wish for my own car. I grew up in a very family oriented lifestyle. Every holiday we would see our family, some family members lived 2 hours away, so I began to realize the real necessity of cars. Although throughout my life I had toy cars and car games I never much took a liking to cars, they never really interested me, until I became a teenager.

Identity
is fashioned by factors such as one’s arrangement in social relationships, structures, and establishments. There are two approaches used to view one’s identity. Structural approaches place prominence on more stable and internal facets of identity. Processual approaches place importance on less stable aspects of identity shaped by society. Another term used is Gender identity. Gender identity is how a person views them self as either male or female. In early childhood this is established. This differs from “sex” because the term “sex” refers to a biological state rather than a culturally produced state of mind, which is gender. Another term, gender role, is defined as the characteristics and behaviors that are suitable for men and women. Sociological perspectives of gender are categorized into four categories. These include essentialism, socialization, social construction, and structuralism. Read the rest of this entry »

influences individual’s lives at home and at work. The birth of the Internet has provided a whole new world to the private sector. Tasks that once took days to achieve are done in minutes and tasks that were once thought impossible are achieved via the Internet. With the availability of the web and the great emersion of e-commerce, one would think that the Internet is used primarily for work, study, research or shopping but the latest studies have proven that individuals use the Internet primarily for interpersonal communication. [Cummings et al] Communication, which is described as “to give or exchange information”, is most thought of as talking; either face-to-face (FTF) or via telephone or in letters. Communication is how we exchange our thoughts, ideas, opinions, and feelings. In the past, using the telephone has been the quickest and easiest way to communicate. Read the rest of this entry »
Globalization
is a term that can be given a wide variety of meanings. Most of the time, it describes America’s spreading to the world. Globalization has been a huge help for America’s economy and growth. This is what has made America the stand out from other countries. America is everywhere. This has made the world accept it, often with disputes, often with excitement. However, American globalization has become irreversible. Globalization has spread in countless ways that it can’t be denied, nor can it be taken out from a society. Globalization involves information and culture; the spread of television, computerized machines, Internet, food and many other costumes are things that have made American globalization be part of the history and/or revolution of many cultures. The
history of America is an amazing one, filled with action, energy, and growth. In the very short history of America, it has progressed from an undeveloped, isolated land to the economically dominant nation that it is today. All the economic growth and progress of this nation is mainly due to the ideal of the “real” American Dream that promotes and rewards hard work. But over a long period of time, the American Dream has become very distorted, and it is the driving force that gives some people unrealistic goals they are not capable of.
The American Dream has changed into an ideal of one’s fantasy of an utopian life. But the very nature of this fantasy prevents the enjoyment of the success one has earned because the temptation is always nagging and insisting for more progress and more accomplishment. Read the rest of this entry »
