When people walk, they lose pounds and keep the weight off. Walking is a very easy way to lose weight because you can walk anywhere at any time. Also, there are many gyms that people go to exercise. This has become a major industry in the United States. These gyms now offer personal trainers that will develop a specific program for each individual. Additional programs that people are finding beneficial are aerobics and kickboxing, these two are very popular and are known to burn a lot of calories. In the fitness enthusiasts opinion, exercising is healthier then dieting. Exercise can become part of your daily living which you can do for years, unlike dieting. Diet supporters say that dieting is the only way to lose weight. Dieting is another means of losing weight. However, there is a lot more information needed in dieting because if it is not done correctly and you don’t get the nutrients that your body needs it can be harmful to your health. “Most diets that focus on weight loss don’t work”( Carey 1583). “Within a year, most folks gain back about a third of what they lose. Within five years, nearly everyone gains it all back, and then some”( Carey 1583 ). People try so hard to lose weight and many don’t achieve success. Another obstacle of weight loss is the maintenance of losing weight. The reason it is so hard to lose weight is because dieting is not a normal way people usually tend to eat. People just wind up depriving themselves. They starve themselves because people think that the less calories you eat, the more likely you are going to lose the weight.
